I think you mean WITHOUT spending money on curtains?
How about cutting out pieces of black construction paper and using rubber cement to glue it to the glass? The rubber cement will make the paper easily removable.

I do not understand the question.. You can make the room completely dark by buying black curtains.. if that is what you want.. it sounds gross though

Nail a blanket to the wall around the window. It keeps the light out. or buy some cheap blinds at Wal-mart to keep the room dark.

You can but light blocking shades. I'm sure they are available at any of the large home stores. If they don't have them in stock, I'm sure they can order them for you.

Get rigid insulation sheets at the home center, thicker the better (1/2 inch or so), and cut them to fit the window. If you are a good measurer and cutter they will fit in easily but stay by friction against the window frame sides. Cover them on the inside with decorative fabric so they look better. They can be removed easily and stand behind a chair or furniture if you don't want to look at them when not in use.
Also take a sheet, double it over and thumb tack across the top of the window. To open put a loop at one lower corner and pull diagonally over to a hook on the opposite side.

Aluminum foil will block out all light and is cheap and easy to put up.

Dark, cheap shades from Walmart or Kmart. It will not keep him or her asleep though. They will grow out of waking every two to three hours in about 3 to 9 months. Depends on your child, not your window treatment. Good luck.

Are you thinking that your baby needs complete darkness to sleep? They don't - they can sleep fine in a light room.

I put black construction paper on my baby’s windows and noticed strong fumes coming in. Must have been from the afternoon sun. Just took them down and have to think of something else. Babys sleep well when they’re very young but by the time they’re around 4 months and become very social they’re more sensitive to the light while sleeping - at least in our case.
