I put black construction paper on my baby's windows and noticed strong fumes coming in. Must have been from the afternoon sun. Just took them down and have to think of something else. Babys sleep well when they're very young but by the time they're around 4 months and become very social they're more sensitive to the light while sleeping - at least in our case.

Yeah not sure if the sun really helps us grow. But like you said, it is good for emotional responses. For instance there is less depression in people that are exposed to the sun light. It might help the baby to distinguish day from night though.
References :
actually yes its called failure to thrive.. there is lack of development when there is no exposure to natural sunlight..
the body needs UV rays to help in development of certain chemicals in the body. one becomes to easily sun burned when they are exposed ,,
if this was not the case why are jaundice baby's placed under UV rays

this does not effect the height of a child but their skin reaction to natual light..
References :
Sorry but that only works with plants that use photosynthesis to make their food. Keeping the room light during daytime naps though helps them to keep their days and nights sorted and get their internal body clock adjusted.
