I think you mean WITHOUT spending money on curtains?
How about cutting out pieces of black construction paper and using rubber cement to glue it to the glass? The rubber cement will make the paper easily removable.

I was wondering if sunlight may help aid in the growth of the baby versus keeping the room dark when he sleeps in the day?
